Ionpure Module Testing / Autopsy Service

Ionpure offers three (3) types of Testing and Autopsy services to End users and OEMs to better understand and trouble-shoot CEDI modules problems and determine upstream equipment operation. Once the module(s) are received, an Ionpure technician will test the module according to factory standards.

  • Hydraulic performance (pressure drop, flow)
  • Ionic performance (ion removal)
  • Visual inspection (outer casing, module integrity)
  • Visual inspection (opened module, membrane, resin, hardware components)

1. CDIMODTEST - Modules are tested for performance WITHOUT disassembly for the purpose of verifying field operation/problems.

2. CDIMODINSPECT- Modules are disassembled WITHOUT testing for the purpose of rebuild (material inspected to verify workmanship and ability for rebuild. Does not include any testing or resin analysis but does include visual inspection, photographs, and a brief report. This is designed for cases where a module is sent in for rebuilding and the general condition of the internals is requested.

3. CDIMODEXAM (Full Autopsy) - Modules are tested for performance AND disassembled for the purpose of autopsy and possible rebuild (includes CDIMODTEST and CDIMODINSPECT). Includes testing of the module as-received, resin analysis as required, and a detailed report with photographs as appropriate. Additional charges may be required for specific testing but only with customer approval.

Fees / Charges

1. All modules, cell packs returned to the factory for autopsy/examination will need to be accompanied by a purchase order for the cost of the test selected. This fee will cover the labor and testing charges to conduct the module examination. Additional charges may be required for specific testing but only with
customer approval.

2. A purchase order per module/incident must be issued at the time IONPURE issues the return number (RA #) for tracking. The P.O. may come directly from the end user, or OEM.  Download the RMA authorization form HERE .

3. Upon completion of the exam, and within two weeks of the module receipt in the factory a Ionpure Module Examination Report will be issued to the customer.

Return Procedure

Anyone wishing to return product to the factory should use the following procedure.

PRODUCT RETURNED TO IONPURE USING ALTERNATIVE METHODS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND RETURNED TO SENDER.

1. Call Ionpure Customer Service at 866-876-3340,or email This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it   for a Return Authorization number (RA#).

2. Customers should be ready to provide the following information, please use the attached form:

  • Part Number (P/N) of the product they wish to return
  • Quantity of the P/N
  • Serial Number (S/N) of the product if applicable. All CEDI Modules have a S/N.
  • Original Customer P.O.#, or Sales Order #.
  • Reason for return
  • Performance data (i.e., % salt rejection, pressure, temperature, feed concentration, % recovery, product flow)
  • Site name, date installed, system size, etc.

3. Ionpure Customer Service will consult with the customer and offer various options and the associated charges for such services as:

  • Module Autopsy (for evaluation and/or verification of failure)
  • Product Repair
  • Product Rebuild

4. Upon providing the information (Item 2, above), an IonpureRA# will be provided and shipping instructions with return address.

5. Customer must return Ionpure product to the specified address in suitable packaging. The exterior of the packaging must be clearly marked with the Ionpure RA#. In cases where product is not returned in a timely fashion, Ionpure may refuse to accept the product.

6. Ionpure Customer Service will notify the customer of the recommended disposition and discuss alternatives (if applicable). Notification to the customer is typically completed within three (3) weeks from receipt of returned material at the factory.
